Well I kind of did forget about the blog postings. :-)
There has been a lot going on since my last update, with changes at Evolving Solutions (new business model and services), driving my son to Fredericton 4 days a week for tennis training and growing my audience over at Eat Greens Every Day.
Something had to give and it was this monthly update. But here I am back with another update and some cool findings.
Overall Search Traffic
The search traffic hasn’t gone up as much as I wanted, but it’s my fault. I haven’t been focusing enough attention on building links because I’ve been trying to write attractive headlines. For the majority of the time, search traffic was pretty flat even though we published 28 articles since the last update.
To fix this, I will be focusing less on content creation and more on link building as the blog already has over 35 pieces of content.
I am going to give Ahrefs a try. I plan to use Ahrefs to find out who links to similar posts, and then email them and ask for links.
Email Marketing & Facebook
I still continue to send an email to my email list each Monday. I have tested sending them on Sunday, early Monday and late Monday. There hasn't been any real signifigant difference. I will continue to play with it.
As for Facebook, we are almost to 1000 likes at the time of this posting. It is much easier to get a like than an email address. I have continued to boost all posts on Facebook for day or two after they have been posted. I usually use a budget between $10-$20 depending how well received the post has been.
To help improve the email list, I have bulked up my lead magnet. I am now offering 4 Free eBooks if you subscribe to the blog. I just promoted this yesterday and I already have 12 new subscribers. Let's see if it can continue to perform well.
As far as open rates, I am pretty pleased. Each email is between 30%-50%. The goal is to try and get closer to that 50% rate on a consistent basis. This will come with the fine tuning of content.
In the next few weeks, I will be launching my organic green powder supplement. I found a company willing to supply the organic product, charging me only when I sell a bottle. This way I am not tying up my cash.
This is the label design for the product. I had some fun with the designing of the label, as I reached out to my EatGreensEveryDay.com audience and asked for their feedback. It was great to see their interest and their input was amazing. Their input will help my goal of building a product they actually want.
All I have to do now is get the product set up online. I will look at adding the product to Amazon, but for the time being I will sell from my website and on Facebook.
Overall, it has gone fairly well, however, it has been much more difficult then I expected, but I have learned a ton and I have really enjoyed it.
I have been doing a pretty good job producing content for Monday's, but I need to do more when it comes to building links. I also need to expand my social outreach efforts, which should help bring traction to the blog. I hope that picks up soon. I think search traffic will be up, but social media traffic may be down as I will be shifting our focus toward revenue generation.
To date, the total spend so far has been $3,435. Most of the cost has been using an editor for my posts, Facebook advertising and graphic design for images, labels etc
What do you think—how am I doing so far? Do you like the product idea and the label?
